Remo is one of the leading brands in drumming and percussion, and they're most famous for their excellent drumheads. Drumheads from the Emperor series come in two versions: clear and coated. The Remo BE-0814-WS White Suede is a coated 14" batter head for snare drums and toms, and it's made of two-ply 7.5-mil Mylar film. These two plies of Mylar don't just help make this drumhead exceptionally durable, they also give it a beautifully warm sound.

In sommige live situaties merkte ik dat mijn toms met gecoate vellen soms wat verdronken in het geluid van de hele band. Afgaand op een goede recensie in de slagwerkkrant ben ik White Suede vellen gaan proberen.
De aanslag is sprankelend en mooi in balans. Meer attack dan een gecoat vel, maar niet zo lomp als een normaal vel of een pintstripe. Ook is de sustain warmer dan bij een niet gecoat vel. Ik speel nu met White Suede Ambassadors als slag- en resonantievel op mijn toms. Dit levert een erg mooi en muzikaal tomgeluid op. Met een White Suede Emperor slagvel is het tomgeluid nog steeds mooi in balans, maar wordt het geluid een fractie doffer en minder muzikaal.

Zeer goed vel. Mooi afgewerkt zoals altijd bij Remo. Klinkt heel goed. Ideaal voor pop/rock. Het vel heeft genoeg punch/attack en power maar heeft ook een lange sustain. Gaat ook nog eens lang mee. Deze vellen klinken ten opzichte van de (gewone Emperor) clear vellen wat 'warmer'. Aanrader!
